Etapa Preliminar

 

 

¡Hola, bienvenidos!
In this introductory unit we learn about greetings and introductions. We will also exchange personal information. Our focus is conversational Spanish with greetings, introductions, pleasantries, telling where we are from, exchanging phone numbers and telling the day of week. We will also learn numbers 0-10, the alphabet, and classroom expressions in Spanish.

 

Unidad 1

Estados Unidos

 

   Mi mundo

In this unit we will visit Miami, San Antonio and Los Angeles. In Miami we will: greet and introduce others, say where people are from and express likes and dislikes. In San Antonio we will: describe others, tell what others like and dislike and describe clothing. Finally, in Los Angeles we will: describe families, ask and give ages, talk about birthdates, give the date and express possession.

Unidad 2

Ciudad de México
  Una semana típica
In this unit we will visit Mexico City. In the first etapa we will: descibre classes and things you find in a classroom, tell how often we do things and discuss our obligations. In the second etapa we will: talk about our schedules, ask and tell time, ask questions, tell where we are going, and request food. Finally, in the third etapa, we will: discuss our plans, sequence events, and talk about places and people we know.

Unidad 3

San Juan, Puerto Rico

 

El fin de semana
In unit three we will be heading to the island of Puerto Rico. In the first etapa we will: extend invitations, talk on the found, tell express feelings, tell where we are coming from and tell what just happened. In the second etapa we will: talk about sports, express preferences, say what we know and make comparisons. Finally, in etapa three, we will: describe the weather, discuss clothing and accessories, state opinions, tell how we feel and say what is happening.

Unidad 4

Oaxaca, México

  ¡De visita!
We're back to Mexico in unit four. In the first etapa we will: identify places, give addesses, choose transportation,request directions and give instructions. In etapa two we will: talk about shopping, make purchases, talk about giving gifts and learning how to bargain. In etapa three we will: order food, request the check, talk about food, express extremes and tell where we went.

Unidad 5

Barcelona, España

  Preparaciones especiales
In unit 5 we go where the Spanish language was born, Spain. In etapa one we will: describe our daily routines, talk about grooming, tell others to do something, and discuss daily chores. In the second etapa we will: say what people are doing, persuade others, describe a house and negotiate chores and responsibilities. In the final etapa we will: plan a party, describe past activities, express extremes and order food.

Unidad 6

Quito, Ecuador
  La ciduad y el campo
In the final unit of the book we visit the capital of Ecuador. In the first etapa we will: tell what happened, make suggestions to a group, describe city buildings and talk about professions. In etapa two we will: point out specific people and things, tell where things are located and talk about the past. Finally, in the third etapa, we will talk about the present and future, give instructions to someone and discuss the past.
